Venture Capital and Private Equity: Latest Deals and Funding Rounds
October 14, 2026 | ATN Trade & Finance
Venture funding continues to run at historic levels in 2026, with the NVCA-PitchBook Venture Monitor reporting more than $400 billion in US venture investment in H1 2026 alone. AI remains the overwhelming center of gravity — on October 8 alone, AI startups raised $1.81 billion across 46 funding rounds spanning robotics, enterprise AI, and infrastructure.
This Week's Largest Rounds
The biggest US deal of the week was Instinct (San Francisco), a personal AI assistant platform, which raised a $1 billion Series C led by Sequoia Capital, Benchmark, and Coatue at a $10 billion post-money valuation. EliseAI (New York), which deploys AI for rental housing and healthcare operations, raised $350 million from Andreessen Horowitz and Bessemer Venture Partners at a $4 billion valuation. Armadin (Palo Alto), an AI-native cybersecurity firm, closed a $255.5 million Series B co-led by a16z and Accel at a $2.5 billion+ valuation. In a sector beyond pure AI, Kahua (Alpharetta, Georgia), a construction project management platform, raised $250 million in a growth round from Bain Capital Tech Opportunities, crossing a $1 billion valuation.
Outside the US, Chinese AI model lab Butterfly Effect raised $500 million Series C from Boyu Capital and IDG Capital, and frontier AI company Arena (US) closed a $200 million Series B led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Khosla Ventures. Veir, which builds superconducting power delivery systems for AI data centers, raised $110 million Series C — a sign that AI infrastructure plays are attracting capital well beyond software.
September's Standouts and Fund Activity
September saw Fireworks — an AI inference infrastructure company — raise $1.5 billion Series D from Index Ventures, Atreides Management, and TCV. Wonderful, an agentic enterprise software platform, raised $550 million Series C led by Bessemer. On the fund side, Bessemer Venture Partners closed $5.75 billion in a single close ($1.75 billion early-stage, $4 billion growth), one of the largest single-close VC fundraises of the year.
In fintech, Valon Technologies raised $150 million Series D from Ribbit Capital at a $2.3 billion valuation, and Capitolis raised $120 million in equity plus $100 million in debt as part of a $220 million package, at a reported $1.9 billion valuation.
What this means for investors and founders: The concentration of capital in AI infrastructure — inference, power delivery, agents — reflects where VCs see the next bottleneck after model development. The Bessemer mega-close and the size of individual rounds signal that LP appetite for venture remains strong even as rate-sensitive assets broadly face headwinds. For non-AI companies, the bar for a large round is higher, but construction tech (Kahua) and fintech (Valon, Capitolis) are still drawing significant checks.
