Venture Capital and Private Equity: Latest Deals and Funding Rounds
October 21, 2026 | ATN Trade & Finance
The week of October 14–19 produced two of the largest venture rounds of the year: a reported $1.85 billion raise by fintech platform Ramp and a confirmed $1.5 billion Series E for Tenstorrent, the AI chip designer backed by a who's-who of institutional investors. Combined with the prior week's top US rounds — led by Modal Labs at $750 million — the market is demonstrating continued appetite for AI infrastructure at scale.
AI Infrastructure Leads the Week
Tenstorrent closed a $1.5 billion Series E at a $6.2 billion valuation, with investors including Trace Capital, Innovation X, ARK Invest, Fidelity, Morgan Stanley, and T. Rowe Price. The company makes AI chips and server systems designed as alternatives to Nvidia's dominant GPU stack, and the round positions it as one of the most heavily-capitalized independent AI silicon bets in the market. Reports have surfaced that Intel and Qualcomm have explored acquisition interest, which the new funding may be partly intended to forestall.
Modal Labs, an AI cloud infrastructure company, raised a $750 million Series D led by Accel, at a valuation of $15.75 billion. The company reported crossing $1 billion in annualized recurring revenue ahead of the round — one of the faster ARR ramps in enterprise infrastructure. Also in AI tooling: doubleAI raised $220 million for models that execute code directly, targeting lower compute costs for enterprise AI workloads; Labelbox raised $100 million Series E from Infinitum Partners for AI data labeling and annotation tools; and North.cloud raised $60 million Series B from PeakSpan Capital for AI-driven spend management.
Construction, Fintech, and Insurance
Icon, the Austin-based 3D-printed home construction company, raised $200 million Series D from Baillie Gifford and BlackRock, with management projecting 4x revenue growth in 2026. Ramp, the expense management and corporate card platform, reportedly raised $1.85 billion in a round that, if confirmed at that figure, would rank among the largest US fintech raises of the year. Stand, an insurance platform focused on disaster-prone geographies, raised $70 million Series C from Saga Ventures and crossed a $1 billion valuation.
Healthcare and Biotech
Suki, an AI-powered clinical documentation platform, raised $90 million Series E from Healthier Capital and Crosslink Capital. Abby Care, a caregiver workforce platform, raised $82 million Series C from Transformation Capital. On the biotech side, Soufflé Therapeutics raised $135 million Series B (Juvia Group) for RNA therapeutics, and Estuary Biotherapeutics closed a $103 million combined seed and Series A from RA Capital for gene therapies targeting kidney diseases. In Europe, Swiss oncology biotech Nouscom raised €120 million (~$135 million) Series D from M Ventures, EIB, EQT Life Sciences, and Bpifrance for its NOUS-209 cancer immunotherapy program in Lynch syndrome.
What this means: The Tenstorrent and Modal Labs rounds — $1.5 billion and $750 million respectively — reflect institutional conviction that AI infrastructure will support multiple large winners beyond Nvidia. The roster of Tenstorrent's investors (Fidelity, Morgan Stanley, T. Rowe Price alongside venture funds) signals that late-stage AI infrastructure deals are now attracting traditional asset managers at scale. Outside AI, the Icon and Stand raises point to persistent demand for capital in physical risk categories — construction cost inflation and climate-driven insurance gaps — where technology is reducing but not eliminating the fundamental risk premium.
