Top Gainers: The Best-Performing North American Stocks and What Drove Them

October 13, 2026 | ATN Trade & Finance

Monday's session was subdued overall, but a handful of stocks posted eye-catching gains on hard news. Here are the standout movers and the catalysts behind each.

Bumble (BMBL) — +56.6%

The biggest gain of the session went to Bumble, the dating app company, which closed near $5.95 after Ithaca Holdings announced a definitive agreement to take it private in an all-cash deal valued at $1.3 billion, or $6.05 per share. That price represents a 122.4% premium to Bumble's closing price on the day before acquisition talks were first reported. Ithaca co-founders Ravi Gupta and John Hegeman will become Bumble's co-CEOs after closing. Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd and shareholder Blackstone both provided the shareholder approvals the deal requires. Match Group (MTCH) — Bumble's closest publicly traded peer — gained about 2% on sympathy buying.

Enerflex (EFXT) — +14.2%

The Calgary-based energy infrastructure company closed at $27.54, up 14.2%, after winning a 1-gigawatt data center power contract. The win positions Enerflex — which builds and operates compression and power infrastructure — squarely in the data center energy buildout that is absorbing capital across the continent. The contract size is significant for a mid-cap and suggests demand from hyperscale operators is now flowing to energy services companies well beyond the traditional oil and gas patch.

Fermi (FRMI) — +13.9%

Fermi, the AI infrastructure company, gained 13.9% after AMD extended credit support for a Texas-based AI data center site being developed by Fermi. AMD's financial backing validates the project's hardware roadmap and reduces Fermi's capital cost. The move comes as GPU manufacturers look to secure off-take from large AI compute deployments ahead of the next chip generation cycle.

UnitedHealth Group (UNH) — +4.1%

UnitedHealth extended its Q3 earnings momentum with a 4.1% gain after management raised its full-year 2026 profit forecast on the back of a strong third-quarter beat. The stock had already moved on the earnings print last week; the follow-through on Monday suggests the revised guidance was better than the buy-side expected heading into the week.

Meta Platforms (META) — +2.6%

Meta rose 2.6% to $768.08 after Truist raised its price target to $1,000 from $763, citing accelerating adoption of Muse, Meta's AI creative suite, and what the analyst called an "AI reset" at the company. A four-digit price target on Meta — now a $1.9 trillion market cap — implies roughly 30% further upside from Monday's close and is one of the more bullish calls on a mega-cap name this year.

What this means for investors: The two clearest structural themes in today's gainers are AI infrastructure monetization (Enerflex, Fermi) and private equity moving into consumer tech at depressed valuations (Bumble at a 122% premium to pre-leak prices). Both themes have run all year; Monday's moves suggest neither has exhausted itself.
